IYOLA KINGWATSIAK (IOLA) Born: August 3, 1933 Male E7-914 Resides: Cape Dorset Sculpture, Drawings, Prints, Printmaking Iyola Kingwatsiak's wife Pootoogook is a graphic artist. Several of his siblings are or were also artists in Cape Dorset. His sister the late Tye Adla (1936-1990) was a carver and graphic artist. Two other sisters, the late Keeleemeeoomee Samualie (1919-1983) and Anna Kingwatsiak (1911-1971), were graphic artists. Iyola's brother Mikigak Kingwatsiak is also a carver and grahic artist. Re-elected in 1972 and 1973. 1971 Attended opening of Sculpture/Inuit exhibition in London, England. 1987 Norgraphics Limited. Iyola was one of several artists whose work was acquired and released by Norgraphics Limited between 1982 and 1986. The works that were selected are documented in the Cape Dorset Graphic annual catalogue of 1987. 1989 Attended the opening of the exhibition 'Cape Dorset Printmaking 1959-1989' held at the McMichael Canadian Collection. 1992 Iyola participated as a speaker on Cape Dorset Printmaking at the Inuit Art Conference held at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in January.
