PITSEOLAK NIVIAQSI Born: January 22, 1947 Male E7-1081 Resides: Cape Dorset Sculpture, Prints, Printmaking In 1977, aided by Wally Brannen, supervisor of the lithography workshop at Cape Dorset, and fellow Cape Dorset resident Jimmy Manning, Pitseolak introduced the technique of lithography to Holman Island printmakers. The workshop was co-taught by Uriash Puqiqnak of Gjoa Haven, and marks the first time Inuit Sculptors have been hired as professional instructors in a southern art school. 1994 Travelled to the opening of the Arctic Spirit exhibition at the Frye Museum in Seattle, Washington.
