49 year old Alex Alikashuak lives and carves in Winnipeg, Manitoba, not far from the home of his renown cousin George Arlook.

Alex has carved from an early age, but his development as an artist was slowed by his indepth involvement in his peoples land claim negatiations with the Canadian Government from 1979-1983.

He turned back to the arts profession in 1993 and his pieces appeared in Winnipeg in 1995. They have spread far and wide and Alex is now being recognized as an artist with a distinctive style of his.

Before arriving in Winnipeg Alex lived in Rankin Inlet, Whale Cove and Arviat.
