MAUDIE RACHEL OKITTUQ (OHKITOOK; OKHETOOK; MOOAHTEE; OHIKTOOK; OKITTAQ) Born: January 1, 1944 Female E4-393 Place of Birth: Thom Bay Resides: Taloyoak Sculpture, Crafts Maudie was born at Thom Bay, on the eastern Boothia Peninsula. She moved to Spence Bay in 1965 and began carving in 1968. The themes of many of Maudie's sculptures are supernatural spirits, deities and creatures. She enjoys working in whalebone and stone. Maudie's husband, James Okittuq, is also a carver in Spence Bay.
