JANE ASH  POITRAS

Jane has become one of Canada's most prominent First Nation Artists. Her    works are coveted for the very best collections of aboriginal art.

ABorignArt Galleries has been fortunate to obtain a significant collection of her works and is proud to offer them for sale or rental. Each of these  mixed media originals is a magnificent addition to any collection. 

Jane Ash Poitras was born in 1951 in the isolated First Nation community of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. Jane Ash Poitras' creative  talent and  academic achievement have provided a solid foundation for her continuing examination of the issues surrounding her evolving culture. She has a B.Sc. in Microbiology, a B.F.A. in  Printmaking from the University of Alberta and an M.F.A. in Printmaking from  Columbia University in New York City. 

Over the past decade her work has been exhibited in many exhibitions in commercial galleries, public galleries and museums in the USA,  Canada and elsewhere around the world. Her work can be found in  public,  corporate and private collections including the Brooklyn Museum, NY; Columbia University, NY; Canadian Museum of Civilization, Hull, Quebec; The Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto; Vancouver Art Gallery; McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg, Ontario; and the National Gallery, Ottawa. 

Ms. Poitras is in demand as a public  speaker and  has also been the subject of numerous television & film biographies and documentaries. She currently lives and works in Alberta.
