SIMON SHAIMAIYUK (SAIMAIYUQ; SAIMIYOOK; SHAIMAIYOOK) Born: March 15, 1915 Male E6-368 Place of Birth: Black Island Resides: Pangnirtung Sculpture, Drawings, Prints, Tapestries Simon Shaimaiyuk first started carving in 1958. Though he only makes ulus now he used to make small whale, seal and bear carvings. Simon also used to draw using pencil, coloured pencil and felt pen. His favourite subjects were of seals, igloos and the Inuit.
