'Crafts from Arctic Canada'
1976 Attended the Cultural Olympics held in Montreal. 1976 September: was a delegate at the 49th Annual Meeting of Canada Craft Council,
held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
1978 Selected to carve the ceremonial baton for the opening of
the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton.
1981 June 11th: attended the opening of his solo exhibition at Northern Images,
Whitehorse.
HONOURS, ACHIEVEMENTS and EVENTS: (continued) 1989 In March, at Hall Beach, Nick instructed eleven local carvers at a carving
workshop. The group experimented using a variety of materials such as
caribou antler, musk ox horn, ivory tusk, and soapstone. The indigenous grey
soapstone is hard to carve and polish, and an alternate material is sought.
1991 Attended Qatuujiqatgit Sanaguatit-Contemporary Carving/Sculpting Session
organized by the Inuit Artists' College at the Ottawa School of Art in
April/May.
1993 Attended the opening of an Inuit art exhibition in Monaco, and demonstrated
stone carving for the Royal family and guests. Prince Rainier personally
purchased one of Nick's sculptures.
