Description: Absolutely stunning stone and finish on this pristine condition work by the well known Nalenik. David Collard joined the RCMP in 1957 after finishing high school. During his 8 years as a general duty police officer he obtained his commercial pilots license. This allowed him to to transfer into the RCMP Air Division as a pilot. After initial flight training his first posting was to the Eastern Arctic flying a single Otter out of Frobisher Bay (now Iqaluit). This allowed him to visit many of the settlements on Baffin Island and Arctic Quebec which in turn sparked his love for collecting inuit carvings and artifacts. Over the years he was also stationed in Inuvik where he was promoted to the position of PIC * Pilot in Charge*. he chose some amazing pieces of incredible stone quality. Looking at the collection it is obvious that he favoured the beautiful stone from the Lake Harbour area (now Kimmirut). His last posting was in Vancouver and one of his final assignments was aircraft surveillance of Clifford Olsen the infamous serial killer. This surveillance work led to Clifford's eventual arrest. After 25 years of service with the RCMP David retired in July 1982. He passed away on March 03rd 2023 in North Vancouver having been based in many parts of this vast country.
