Description

Born in 1954, John Laford is an Ojibway artist from Manitoulin Island, Ontario. He has thoroughly studied his culture and art at Algonquin College in Pembroke, Ontario. He also studied pottery in New Mexico and the old pictographs and rock paintings of his ancestors.Although he sees himself as a self taught artist, these studies have brought him social awareness, leading to an openness to many ancient and contemporary styles. His paintings can be found in museums across Canada, the US and Australia, as well as in numerous private collections across the globe.”When a woman begins to follow their native traditions, they embark upon a long journey. Whether it starts with their first feather, their first dance, or their first sweathouse ceremony, many things are sure to follow on this journey.”- John Laford This print is also available as a set with matching numbers along with ‘Loon’s Summer’ and ‘Two Traditions’. This limited edition silkscreen print titled “Woman Journey” by John Laford was hand produced by the screen printing process. It is the only limited edition printing of this design. The artist has inspected and signed each copy in the edition. All trial copies of this edition have been destroyed and the printing stencils obliterated.
