Description
These two spoons are carved in reindeer horn. They were carved in Finland, just south of the Arctic Circle in the early 1960’s. Each tells a story symbolically in geometric design. Sun Spoon, on the left, represents the sun, important in former Shamanist religion, by a cut-out circular design.Mountain spoon, on the right, represents a mountain, with a cut-out triangle. ; an opposing triangle represents its reflection in a lake.Small rings attached to the edges of each attest to the skill of craftsmanship with which these spoons are produced.
