Artist Statement – * Around here in our lands birds are really pretty, and foxes and rabbits, and the Inuit really like them. That’s the reason I did the drawing. Mostly I really like these animals. Even while Inuit like the animals very much, we use their meat for food. People eat a lot of meat in the North. That’s one of the reasons I’m fond of the animals; because they are so good to eat. It’s not like the animal rights ( activists); in the North when our hunters kill the animals, Inuit don’t protest even though we love them, but they are our main source of foods so we don’t have animal rights. If I didn’t like these animals I wouldn’t draw them, and the same goes for the birds. I drew my favourite creatures, and people are walking with them. The animals are the same, even though the colours might be a little different. When you put different colours it makes them even prettier.*
