Qikittat

Description

A story from Josephee’s grandfather who told him of a whaling station that used to be on Qikittat Island in the Cumberland Sound. This print shows how a big whale would be enclosed in an inlet and hunters or whalers would carve it up during low tide. When high tide came along, floats would be used to keep the whale from sinking.
