This bright and beautiful piece has some interesting elements: note the decorated central ulu, the man tossing a snow knife (celebrating his completion of the igloo), and the old-style woman’s kamiks with knee-side pockets.The embroidery stitches used in this piece include: buttonhole, chain, detached chain, fly, herringbone, running, cross and single feather. The inner border is the unique Rankin Inlet “leaves and vine” stitch work motif.
