Description
Traditionally, people didn’t live in only one place. They had to travel around, looking for animals for food. When they successfully hunted caribou, they would stay in one place for a couple of days to dry the meat. Once dried, the meat was cached and covered with rocks. Not all people could travel. The older people would stay by a river or lake where someone would look after them all summer. As the other people left, throat singers would sing goodbye.
